Current Happenings:

For 2012 Guild President, Janet Lucas, is challenging members to create a "WOW" quilt.  Let Janet know if you're going to learn a new technique, have plans to start a new project, whatever you think will "WOW" you this year.

Quilt Calendar Photo Contest - Nori is working on a program which will allow members to upload calendar photos which can then be voted on by the Guild membership.  Until the program is complete, please email your photos with the description you want listed with the photo to Nori.  These photos will be added as part of the testing process.

Each year the Guild makes a quilt to raffle off as a fund raiser.  To purchase tickets for a chance to win the 2012 Raffle Quilt contact Dave Christensen.  To see a picture of 2012 quilt, and a history of the raffle quilts click here.

Activities

We're doing a Mystery Quilt.  Everyone is encourage to participate. Members are challenged to have their fabric purchased and cut by the January meeting to be entered in a drawing for a prize.  For the fabric requirements and cutting instructions, click Mystery Quilt in the left hand menu.

Mary Aubuchon is designing an applique Block of the Month.  Patterns are available at the meetings.

The annual Quilt Challenge is being revised for 2012.  Rather than entering your quilt in type of quilt category (pieced, applique, combination), you'll enter your quilt in Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced categories.  Quilts are displayed, and voted on by members, at the Summer Picnic.  Quilts with the most votes win their category, and a prize.  To participate you need to purchase a packet form Debby for $5.00.  The packet includes the instructions and a piece of fabric.  Packets go on sale at the February meeting.

The Color Boxes are making their way around the members who signed up to participate.  There's still room if you'd like to join the fun.  Contact LouAnn to get on the list.

Quilting Tips:

Glad Press 'N Seal is a great tool for appliqué - trace your pattern onto it and use it as an overlay for positioning - it is terrific!

How to save your appliqué templates:  Purchase 5 x 7 brown envelopes or larger. Label envelope front- Pattern, Date, Content. Use your templates to draw on front of envelope the pattern and insert templates in the envelope. This way you will know exactly what your templates in the envelope look like if you choose to use them again.
