The concept for a color box quilt started in 2001 when the Community Services Chairperson put a variety of pink scraps in a box and passed it out to the members with instructions to make a 12½" by 12½" block of any design. When there were enough squares for a quilt, the top was assembled and quilted, and the contributing members had their names entered in a drawing for the quilt. The drawing was held at the Guild annual picnic. The color box idea was so well received the membership wanted to do it again. Since then, two boxes have been circulated and the resulting squares have been assembled and quilted with the drawing held at the Guild Summer picnic. The number of quilts made from the resulting blocks has grown from one to three. A signup sheet is passed out once the materials have been selected. Once the signup sheet is full, interested members are put on a waiting list. The Color Box Chairperson coordinates fabric, box content, signup, distribution, Color Box Quilt assembly, quilting, binding and name drawing of the winners. Community Service - Sandra Hollon,
