Guild Profile - Sheila GrayMy introduction to quilting was through a friend of my mother's parents, Mrs. Olsen (she recently passed at age 103!), she was always quilting and seemed to know how to lay out the "Trip Around the World" in her head, this amazed me. My first full-fledge quilt was the "Road to Oklahoma Star." I cut out the templates from coffee can lids and hand cut all the pieces with scissors. This was before the influence of rotary cutting and mats. This quilt is still in use today. My current works are in many stages and themes; I generally have a machine-pieced projects and a hand-pieced projects going at the the same time. The hand-pieced project is my take along for times that I have to wait (Dr's appt, etc). I attend guild for inspiration and to admire the creativity of others. |
